Friends and Family Test (FFT)
Your opinion of our service is very important to us. We want every patient's experience to be excellent, and we use the Friends and Family Test to understand what matters most to our patients and their carers or family members.
The Friends and Family Test is a national initiative which began in 2013, so called because patients were asked if they would recommend a GP surgery, hospital ward or department to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment.
The survey name remains the same, but, following a review in 2018/19, the survey now asks the question: "Overall, how was your experience of our service?"
You can rank you answer from 'very good' to 'very poor'. You'll have the opportunity to explain your score by adding comments, and you may also be asked some follow-up questions. This is important because service providers can only make changes if they know exactly what is or is not working.
Your responses are free and anonymous. You will not be identified from your feedback.
Other ways to give feedback
There are also other ways to give your feedback:
- By telephone
- In writing
- Ask staff for a paper copy of the Friends and Family Test questionnaire
Survey Details
You should be asked to give your feedback after your visit by text message or you can complete a paper form whilst at the surgery, speak to staff or telephone us.
Possible responses to the question asking you to review the overall service you have received range from 'very good' to 'very poor'. You will also have an option to give a reason for your rating and any other comments. A friend or family member or carer is welcome to answer the question if you're unable to.
Throughout this feedback, we can hear about your experience in our surgery. We share the results of the survey with staff. Positive feedback helps staff to know what makes a difference to patient care. When the feedback is less positive, we learn where potential improvements is needed.
