Important Update: As of 18/09/2020 our phonelines between 12 and 2pm will be emergency calls only. We ask all medication is ordered online where possible. We are unable to take any medication requests before 10am.

Due to the recent local COVID outbreak we are restricting access to the building to help protect staff and patients. Please only come to the surgery if you have been invited to do so and only at the allocated time. All prescription requests must be done online or over the telephone and will be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy. Due to the high volume of calls, all COVID related queries will be directed to the government website.

Exciting news for all patients

Great Lumley strives to be as green as possible, and we are thrilled to announce a new initiative aimed at making a big difference to our planet. Novo Nordisk, a leader in healthcare solutions, is taking a step towards sustainability by introducing a recycling programme.

Here's how it works: 

  • Used Pen Collection – Novo Nordisk’s pre-filled insulin and GLP-1 pens are now RECYCLABLE.
  • Convenient Access – Collect a recycling pouch from our reception area or any participating pharmacy. Once your pouch is full, send it off FREEPOST to the Pen Recycle Team OR find your nearest Pencycle store.  To find the nearest location to Great Lumley, use the PenCycle return box order form or check the Boots recycling scheme website for participating stores in the nearby Durham areas.
  • Recycle Pens: Fiasp, Levemir, Norditropin, Novomix, Novorapid, Ozempic, Saxenda, Victoza, Wegovy, Tresiba

By recycling your used Novo Nordisk Pens, you’re contributing to a healthier planet and helping reduce medical waste.
